Dog afraid to ride in SUV.?

Here is the problem my dog is afraid to ride in my SUV she never used to be but a about a month ago some drunk T Boned me while she was in the car we were both ok beside some scratches and small cuts but ever since then my dog will refuse to ride in the car it is getting to be a major problem because when ever i take her anywhere such as the vet i have to put her in a cage and then put her in the SUV. Before the accident i just out her lose in the car no cage or anything. The problem is that in a week i am Driving to Florida to avoid the hassle of flying and i really want to take her with me. Please Help

Practice. get the leash and try being calm yourself and practice getting her in the SUV. I would probably try a time when it is quiet. Maybe motivate with toys or treats. Find a day when you can spend some time on this and practice. I travel with my dogs when it is dark out, so that when the sun comes up they are used to riding. I wonder if she would do better if it were dark out. You might ask your vet about melatonin or something to help her be less stressed, I don't know how you could lift her in the SUV. I pile lots of old comforters in my car so the dog can be comfortable and because they smell like home. I wonder if you could just put your leash on her and pretend you are going for a walk and then try and get her in the car. I put my dogs out to potty and then I load all my stuff in the car while they are outside, so I just have to bring them in and trick them into the car. I am glad the both of you are o.k..
